A Black Queer Boy Named
Brandon R. Nicholas (he/they/sibling)
Hello, I go by Brandon Nick. I'm a queer Afro-Caribbean filmmaker, portrait photographer, and podcaster. I'm from Annapolis, MD, but now live in Jersey City, or as I call it, the unofficial 6th Borough of New Young City (aka NYC).
As a photographer and storyteller, my work exists at the intersections of community, pleasure, Blackness + queerness. My mission is to be in and of service to butch queens, femme queens, Black queer folk, and queer folk of color through art and advocacy. I'm passionate about intentional art that
fosters empathy, reclamation, & liberation.
Currently, I'm working on turning my short documentary Miss Honey: the Catsuit, about the Jamaican Music Icon that is Moi Renee, into a feature doc! I'm also have a short narrative that I produced called home that's doing the festival circuit, which is really exciting!
Beyond that, I host a subversive narrative-documentary podcast called Let’s Get Back To Queer, and I'm the co-founder of The Each-Other Project. I'm a proud graduate of Morgan State University. In my spare time, I'm doing ghetto dances and taking crazy chances. And I've won a few awards and been published in some nice publications.
